CANTON, Ohio - The Malone University men's golf team and Head Coach
Ken Hyland have announced two signees for the 2026-27 academic year. The Pioneers welcome
Alexander Eckstein and
Deagan Beaber to the program for next season.

Eckstein is a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio and plans to major in business management. He was a three-time All-Ohio honoree, two-time state runner-up (sophomore and senior year) and two-time district champion for the Cardinals. Eckstein was a 2025 Ohio Amateur Qualifier and Hudson Jr. Champion and was a national qualifier in the 17u Hotshot PGA Jr. League. In the classroom, Eckstein was named Ohio High School Golf Coaches Academic All-Ohio and won the senior academic award and merit scholarship through his high school.

Beaber is from Indian Valley High School and aims to major in nursing while at Malone. He was First Team All-Conference all four varsity seasons for the Braves and holds two school records (32 in nine holes, 66 in 18 holes). The golf team placed fifth at the state championships and won the Inter-Valley Conference (IVC) and districts. Beaber was also Honorable Mention East District as a basketball player and two-time Second Team All-Conference as a baseball player for Indian Valley. Academically, he is a part of the National Technical Honor Society and a two-year academic letterman.
