COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Malone University women's soccer team traveled to Columbus on Thursday evening for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match against the Ohio Dominican University Panthers. The Pioneers competed hard against their in-state rivals, but ultimately left Columbus with a tie at 1-1. The Pioneers move to 3-5-2 overall and 2-4-2 in G-MAC competition as the Panthers are now 1-7-4 overall and 1-4-3 in G-MAC play.
The first period was a close and aggressive 45 minutes for both teams as they battled to gain the early advantage. The Pioneers were on the attack early as they attempted the first two shots of the game. The Panthers offense returned with a handful of shots of their own. In the hotly contested half, Malone and Ohio Dominican both tied with four shots in the period. Despite both their aggressive start to the game from both teams, neither were able to net the game's first goal in the opening period.
The second half continued to be an offensive battle as both teams attempted shots on goal in the opening ten minutes. Senior forward
Brynn Mowrer was able to net the Pioneer's first goal in the 63rd minute off a rebound from a saved penalty kick to put Malone up 1-0. Late in the period, the Panthers were able to even the score with their own goal as both teams continued the evenly matched battle. Neither team was able to score a goal the remainder of the game.
Offensively, it was an equally distributed effort for Malone as six different Pioneers attempted all six of their shot attempts on goal in the contest. Junior goalkeeper

In the tie, the Pioneers will look for areas of improvement as they return home this weekend to face their cross-town rival, the Walsh University Cavaliers during Malone University's 2025 Homecoming celebration on Saturday, October 11. The women's game will kickoff at 1:00 P.M. at Pioneer Park.
