CANTON, Ohio - The Malone University women's soccer team fell to the Ohio Dominican University Panthers in their final home match of the season, 2-1. The Pioneers drop to 5-7-2 on the season as the Panthers improve to 2-8-4. In the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), Malone sits at 4-6-1, as the Panthers move up to 2-5-3.

The action started fast as both teams tried to find the right shot to earn an early lead during the first period.
Morgan Kandel had two shots during the 5th and 12th minutes of the match, but was unsuccessful on both of her attempts. During the 20th minute,
Camryn Emerling had an opportunity to give the Pioneers the lead, but could not find the back of the net.

During the 30th minute of the match, Ohio Dominican was able to find the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead. Malone could not draw even before the half and ended up with four shots. The Panthers found the net again during the 54th minute to increase their lead to 2-0.

The Pioneers got one back as Emerling and
Alyssa Schofield assisted
Gracie Ashton for a goal to cut the Panthers' lead to 2-1 during the 62nd minute of the match. Ohio Dominican stayed on the offensive as they were able to keep possession most of the second half, but late in the contest, Malone pushed the pace to score once again.

Ashton had another opportunity to tie the game for the Pioneers during the 73rd minute of the match, but the Panthers' goalkeeper was able to make the save. The match came down to the final 11 seconds of the match when
Claire Charnock tried to find the net during a scrum off a corner kick, but the Ohio Dominican defense was able to get the clear and secure the win.

Aubree Mellana,
Abby Blaz,
Brynn Mowrer, and Schofield stayed on the pitch for the full 90 minutes of the match.

As the playoffs come closer, Malone is three points behind Thomas More University for sixth place in conference standings. The Pioneers look to keep their playoff chances alive as they travel to Lake Erie College on October 25. Kick-off time is at 7:00 P.M.
