Pioneers Trounced by Panthers

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Malone University men's soccer team traveled to Ohio Dominican University for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup on Thursday. The Pioneers lost 4-1 putting them at 1-10-2 overall and 1-7-2 in the conference. The Panthers are now 3-6-3 overall and 3-3-2 in the G-MAC.
 
Malone started the first half strong with two shots within the first three minutes. Quickly after, they were given two back-to-back corner kicks. In the sixth minute, Christopher Onye was able to put the first goal of the game in the net after a defensive miscue for Ohio Dominican. Silas Coleman was credited with an assist on the play.
 
Ohio Dominican answered very quickly and scored their first goal less than three minutes after the Pioneers' goal. Malone was able to get the ball to their side with again two back-to-back corner kicks but could not keep the momentum. The Panthers scored their second goal in the 33rd minute and third in the 43rd to make the score 3-1 at the half.
 
Ohio Dominican put their fourth and final goal in the net at the start of the second half in the 53rd minute. The Pioneers were unable to maintain possession in the second half with zero credited shots.
 
In goal for Malone was Sam Cipriano (1-8-2), who played all 90 minutes with five saves. Also playing all 90 minutes were defenders Dylan DiPiero and Caleb Redding.
 
Next, the Pioneers travel to Cedarville, Ohio to play the nationally-ranked Cedarville University Yellow Jackets. Kick-off will be at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 25.
