CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Malone University men's soccer team traveled to #9 Cedarville University for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match on Saturday evening. The Pioneers were defeated 4-0 to put them at 1-11-2 overall and 1-7-2 in G-MAC action as the #9 Cedarville Yellow Jackets improved to 10-0-5 overall and 8-0-3 in the G-MAC.

The first 45 minutes of action was mainly controlled by the Yellow Jackets as they won time of possession and overall shots taken on-goal. Cedarville took nine shots versus the Pioneers' four and were able to net two goals in the period.Â

The second half of the contest continued to be a lopsided battle as #9 Cedarville took over possession of the ball and were able to net another two goals in the final period making the final score 4-0. The Yellow Jackets attempted ten shots compared to the Pioneers three in the half.

Offensively, the Pioneers were led by junior
Nate Werthmuller, who finished with three shots and their lone shot on goal in the contest. The Pioneers also had senior
Mason Gradel and freshman
Alexander Castro Morales each attempt a shot during the match. Sophomore
Caleb Redding and freshman
Ryan Ziskowski each played the full 90 minutes in the contest.

Defensively, Malone split the load in goal between junior
Sam Cipriano (1-9-2) and freshman
Roman Sigafoos, who each finished with three saves apiece against an aggressive Yellow Jacket squad.

Following the loss, the Pioneers will look to put this game behind them as they prepare for another G-MAC conference matchup against the Lake Erie College Storm. That contest is on Thursday, October 30 at 7:00 P.M.
