PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Malone University Women's Soccer team traveled to Painesville, Ohio over the weekend to take on the Lake Erie College Storm. After a last second goal before half-time, the Lady Pioneers left Painesville victorious via a 1-0 final.
The first half saw each team trade a variety of strong offensive attacks followed by spectacular defensive saves as each team fired off six shots in the opening 45 minutes. Lake Erie saved a quartet of shots while
Amelia Henderhan spurned a pair of Storm shots on goal. In the waning seconds of the first half Malone broke through as
Raegan Radel found
Madison Woodward who swished home her first goal of the season, putting the Pioneers up 1-0.
The second half was dominated by the Storm offensively as they committed no fouls and fired off eight shots to the Pioneers five. Unfortunately for the Storm, Henderhan put on a goalkeeping master class as she thwarted five Storm shots, bringing her game total to seven.
