CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University women's soccer team hosted D'Youville University at Pioneer Park Tuesday, September 17th. Malone defeated D'Youville by a score of 2-0. The Pioneers are now 2-0-1 this season and the Saints fall to 0-4-1.
Brynn Mowrer scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute with assists from
Madison Woodward and
Camryn Emerling. Emerling played the ball in coming off a corner kick and Woodward made a touch pass to Mowrer for the score.
The Pioneers scored their second goal in the 65th minute. This goal was completed by
Eliza Wills with an assist from
Morgan Kandel. This made the final score 2-0.
Malone outshot D'Youville by a mark of 14-3. Eight of those shots were on-goal. The Saints attempted one shot on-goal which
Amelia Henderhan was able to save. Henderhan, Woodward, and
Hannah Hubbard played the entire 90 minutes.
Malone was able to get 22 players into the match to help save their legs for a three-game week. "It was a good win for us," Head Coach
Bailey Shattell mentioned post-game. "We were able to use our depth. We three games this week, we wanted to share minutes so we feel fresh as we head into conference play!"
Malone's next match is away at Tiffin University on Thursday, September 19th. Start time will be 1:00 P.M.
