CANTON, Ohio – Third year head coach Bill Lawrence and the Malone University men's soccer team prepares for the 2024 season and the team recently released their schedule.
Last season, the Pioneers held a record of 2-13-2 and were 1-11-2 inside the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Malone struggled late in the year, but are optimistic to grow in 2024.
The campaign kicks off on September 5 at Daemen University, followed by a match at Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester, New York on September 7. The first conference weekend will feature a road match at Cedarville University on September 19 and the team's first home contest at Pioneer Park and King Field against Tiffin University on September 21. The final non-conference opponent on the slate for the Pioneers is California University of Pennsylvania on September 25. That match will be contested in Canton as well.
From there, the season ramps up with a stretch of conference matches against out-of-state opponents. The team travels to Kentucky Wesleyan on September 28 before Thomas More University makes their first trip to Canton on October 2. The Panthers of KWC make the return trip to Pioneer Park on
2024 Homecoming & Family Weekend on October 5.
Throughout the month of October, Malone travels for their Thursday matches and are at home on the Saturdays. The University of Findlay (October 10) and Lake Erie College (October 12) start that stretch of alternating between home and away followed by Northwood University and Walsh University on October 17 and 19.
The Pioneers repeat opponents the next weekend in Tiffin and Northwood. They will travel to northwest Ohio to face the Dragons on October 24 and the Timberwolves come to Canton on October 26. The final three-match segment of the year comes at Ashland University (October 29), versus Ohio Dominican University (November 2) and at Walsh (November 6). The contest against Ohio Dominican is the final regular season match on their home turf.
