Mason, OH-- On Friday, the Malone University baseball team traveled to Prasco Park for a four-game series against West Liberty. The Pioneers aimed to rebound after being swept in a doubleheader the previous week.
Malone swept West Liberty to get back to even on the season.

Game One
The Pioneers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning.
Eric Baum's double to left field set the stage, followed by
Anthony Ryan's RBI single to center field, bringing Baum home. Moments later, the momentum surged as
Jake Aleman smashed a triple to center field, notching 2 RBIs, and shortly thereafter scored on a passed ball to give Malone a 4-0 lead.
Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Malone ignited their offense once more. Pioneer pitcher Josh Salinas delivered a stellar performance, throwing a complete game while conceding just three hits throughout, effectively shutting down the Hilltoppers' offense.
Malone surged in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs to establish a commanding 9-0 lead. Salinas then effectively shut the door, allowing only one run in the top of the seventh, securing the 9-1 victory.
Game Two
In the second game of the doubleheader, West Liberty jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. The bottom of the second inning featured Jake Aleman's powerful swing when he sent the ball soaring over the fence for a two-run homer, leveling the score at at 2 apiece.
The Pioneers plated a run in the third. Jordan Stevens double to right field set the stage for Anthony Ryan, who followed up with a clutch single up the middle, driving in Stevens for a run.
West Liberty took a 7-6 lead in the top of the fifth after scoring five runs, but Malone's offense responded in a big way scoring eight runs throughout the reminder of the game to grab the 14-9 victory.
