CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University women's soccer team took on Ohio Dominican University on Saturday for their annual Homecoming and Family Weekend match. The Pioneers lost by a score of 2-0 and now have an overall record of 5-3-1 and 3-3 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Ohio Dominican now holds a 4-2-4 overall record and 4-0-3 in the G-MAC.
The Panthers scored their first goal within the first minute of the game off a quick breakaway through the Pioneer defenders.
Their second goal was in the 38th minute of the first half off a stolen pass. Ohio Dominican weaved their way through Malone defenders to make the score 2-0. The Pioneers were unable to get a shot in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, Malone had a total of two shots on goal compared to the Panthers five.
Amelia Henderhan (5-2-1) was able to save three of those. Henderhan played the entire 90 minutes along with
Camryn Emerling,
Hannah Hubbard,
Reagan McCourt, and
Madison Woodward.
In total Ohio Dominican outshot the Pioneers 9-3 but Malone had five corner kicks compared to the Panthers three. Hubbard,
Stephanie Tovar, and
Gabrielle McCourt each took shots for the Pioneers.
Malone's next game is October 10 on the road against Cedarville University for a G-MAC matchup with a start time of 7:00 P.M.
