Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Malone Upended by Cedarville 3-1

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Malone University women's soccer team (5-4-1, 3-4-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC)) came up short on Thursday night at Cedarville University (6-4-2, 5-2-1 G-MAC) by a score of 3-1.

The Pioneers were outshot in the match 16-7, with 10 of those looks for the Yellow Jackets on-target. Cedarville took all six recorded corner kicks in the match, however sophomore Amelia Henderhan (5-4-1) made five saves to the opponent's one.

The Yellow Jackets got on the board in the 29th minute with a goal near post and that score would remain as the only tally of the first half.

Senior Morgan Ross evened the match at one with a breakaway goal in the 61st minute. Cedarville would immediately answer with another goal to put themselves back on top 2-1 on a crossing pass.

The Yellow Jacket defense was effective in limiting attempts, however junior Camryn Emerling got an attempt off in the 85th minute of play, but off-target. Cedarville added an insurance goal in the 88th minute to net the 3-1 final.

Sophomore Gabrielle McCourt recorded three of the team's seven shot attempts (one on-goal). Henderhan, senior Madison Woodward, junior Hannah Hubbard and sophomore Abby Blaz played all 90 minutes.

Up next, Malone travels south to Kentucky Wesleyan College for a match beginning at 11:00 A.M. CST on Saturday, October 12.
