TIFFIN, Ohio – The Malone University men's soccer team came up short in their matinee contest at Tiffin University on Thursday. The Pioneers were bested by a score of 3-1 and fall to 4-7-2 overall and 1-7-2 inside the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). The Dragons currently sit at 9-4-1 and 8-2-0 in league play.
Tiffin outshot Malone 15-6 in the match. However, only four of the shots were on goal for the Dragons, with two credited to the Pioneers. Tiffin accepted five corner kicks to Malone's two. Sophomore goalkeeper
Griffin Owen (1-2-0) made one save.
The first goal of the match came in the 10th minute. A long pass into the offensive zone set up Tiffin for a crossing pass that led to a score. The Dragons would increase their lead in the 23rd minute of play thanks to a similar play – a long pass up the sideline and centering pass in the box.
Malone quickly responded in the 24th minute to cut the gap in half. Freshman
Silas Dellaperute, who made his first career start in the match, set up junior
Christian Piccolotto for the goal, his third of the season.

Andres Eizaga had a shot blocked just before the end of the first half as the score remained at the break. To start the second half, Tiffin would increase their lead to 3-1 in the 47th minute. Quality interior passing by the Dragons led them to their third goal of the afternoon.
