OWENSBORO, Ky. — The Malone University women's basketball team (6-6, 2-2 G-MAC) fell to Kentucky Wesleyan College (9-2, 4-1 G-MAC) by a score of 78-57 on Thursday evening, January 4.
The Pioneers were in action for the first time in 2024 and traveled to Owensboro for a conference game with the Panthers. The hosts jumped out to an early, large lead and led 20-9 after the first quarter of play. The second period did not get better for the Pioneers as Kentucky Wesleyan continued to control the game and held a 47-21 lead at the half. The Panthers maintained their large lead throughout the second half and did not allow the visitors back in the game. Despite Malone outscoring the Panthers 20-7 in the final frame, it was not enough to come back from the deficit and the Pioneers fell by a final of 78-57.
