CANTON, Ohio. -- The Malone University women's basketball team (11-8, 7-4 G-MAC) had its two-game win streak snapped with a loss against Northwood University (11-6, 7-3 G-MAC) on Saturday, January 27 in Osborne Hall.
Both teams started the game strong but it was Northwood who held a slim 34-32 lead at the half. The Timberwolves then used a big third quarter to extend their lead to 11 over the Pioneers. The hosts fought back though in the fourth quarter and outscored Northwood by eight in the last frame. Trailing by just three points and having possession with two seconds left, the Pioneers put up one last shot to try to draw the game level, but it clanged off the rim and the Timberwolves secured the victory.
Inside the Box Score
Kyli Horn led the Pioneers with 16 points and two assists.
Brooklyn Troyer added 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
Erin Kaufman chipped in with seven points and 12 rebounds.
Brinn Hunt had six points and eight rebounds.
Nataley Armstrong and
Anna Krupa each added six points. Krupa led the team with five assists.
And for Northwood, Makenzie Todd became the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,466 points.
What's Next
The Pioneers are back in action on Thursday, February 1 as they travel to Lake Erie College to face off with the Storm. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
