Cedarville, OH-- On Wednesday (Jan. 20) Malone men's basketball (9-10,2-9 G-MAC) battled first place Cedarville (14-5,8-1 G-MAC) at the Callan Athletic Center. The Pioneers fought hard, but ultimately fell 68-59.
Jumping out to an early 10-5 lead, Malone was looking to grab an upset. After a Yellow Jacket three, both teams went ice cold for about three minutes. Cedarville finally scored to make it 11-10. Malone answered right back, but then both teams went cold again.
It went almost another three minutes before two free throws were made by Cedarville. The Yellow Jackets then went on a 12-0 run to help them lead 36-27 at halftime.
In the second half, the lead was cut down to just two points
Aaron Badibo knocked down a short mid range jumper. That was the closest Malone was to taking back the lead. Cedarville was able to build a firm lead and they never looked back winning by a final score of 68-59.
Inside the Box Score
Aaron Badibo had a nice game back after missing a few. He scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
Although
Simon Blair was just 1-6 from beyond the arch, he still finished with 15 points.
Biggz Johnson tallied 8 points and 5 assists.
Caleb Conard grabbed 11 rebounds.
What's Next
Malone will be back in action this Saturday (Jan. 27) at home vs Northwood. The game is slated to start at 3:00 PM
