The Game
The game was back and forth in the first half with the Pioneers tallying six shots to the Oilers' four.
As the game went on, both sides stayed disciplined and didn't give up much in terms of key chances on either end. Coming out of the halftime break,
Josh Lord headed home his first pioneer goal thanks to a beautifully whipped in, out-swinging cross from
Dylan DiPiero. After the goal, Malone began to absorb the Oiler pressure, allowing them to move the ball around in areas that were unthreatening.
The Oilers were able to create a couple dangerous chances but freshman keeper
Griffin Owen parried them aside as he led the Pioneers to a 1-0 win while recording his first GMAC clean sheet.Â
