TIFFIN, Ohio. — The Malone University men's soccer team (2-5-2, 1-3-2 G-MAC) fell to Tiffin University (6-1-1, 5-0-1 G-MAC) by a score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, September 30.
The Dragons came into the match holding an 8-1-1 record in their last 10 against the Pioneers and continued their recent dominance over their opponents by scoring two goals in the first half hour of the game. The Pioneers answered back just minutes before halftime as

Josh Lord, who scored his second goal of the season and drew the visitors back within one at 2-1.
However, the remainder of the game was all Tiffin as the hosts outshot Malone 10-0 in the second half and had six corner kicks compared to the Pioneers' one. The Dragons added an insurance goal in the 67th minute when Thierry Van Den Berg converted his penalty kick to make it 3-1. Tiffin had 23 shots (including 10 on goal) to Malone's three and 12 corners to the Pioneers' three.
Tiffin retains their place at the top of the conference with the victory and Malone falls to 1-3-2 in the G-MAC.
Griffin Owen played well in goal for the Pioneers and helped keep the game closer than the scoreline suggests. The freshman from Wooster, Ohio made eight saves on the day.
What's Next
The Pioneers will return home on Thursday, October 5 as they welcome Kentucky Wesleyan to King Field for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
