CANTON -- Thursday was opening night of the 2023 season for the Malone University men's soccer team.

The Pioneers welcomed the Roberts University Redhawks to King Field at Pioneer Park.

ROUND UP
There was not much going for either offense in the first half as the teams went to the break scoreless. 

The Pioneers did outshoot the Redhawks 9-2, but their three opportunites that were put on frame were all saved. 

Malone opened up the scoring in the 60th minute when Gavin Csiszar put home a penalty kick opportunity to give the Pioneers the lead. 

Less than a minute later Fraeday Moo collected a loose ball in front of the box, and put it past the RWU keeper for the game's second goal. 

Malone's defense, anchored by Griffin Owen in goal, kept the Redhawks off the board the rest of the way to secure the 2-0 shutout win.
