CANTON, Ohio -- The Malone University baseball team played their final home series of the 2023 season this weekend.
The Pioneers welcomed Hillsdale College to town.
Saturday's doubleheader was played on the campus of the University of Akron, and Sunday's series finale was played at Malone's usual home complex: Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium.
Between games three and four of the series, the Pioneers celebrated Senior Day where the careers of:
James Miller,
Isaac Stallard,
Jaxon Snyder,
Danny Miller,
Evan Balzano, and
Tyson Gingerich were all honored.
Also, junior outfielder
Jake Aleman was announced as the 2023 winner of the Bob Starcher Memorial Scholarship.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE SERIES
- Tyson Gingerich led the Pioneers with 6 hits in the series. He also scored the opening run in Sunday's first game which moved him into first place all-time in program history with 181 career runs scored.
- Jake Aleman paced Malone's offense with a .364 batting average on the weekend. He was 4-11 at the plate with a pair of walks.
- Evan Balzano and Anthony Ryan each had two RBIs on the weekend.
- Jaxon Snyder got the start at third base in Sunday's second game. He went 2-4 at the plate with one run scored.
- Caesen Sutton made his first collegiate start in Sunday's first game. He turned in a complete game effort to pick up his third win of the year.
- Jacob Rollyson pitched four innings of relief on the weekend. He allowed just one hit, and had a 0.00 ERA.
- James Miller made his Malone University debut in Sunday's second game. He was able to pitch the Pioneers out of jam in the eighth inning.
WHAT'S NEXT
Malone enters the final week of the regular season trailing Kentucky Wesleyan College by one game for the final spot in the 2023 Great Midwest Championship Tournament.
The Pioneers open up a four-game series with crosstown rival Walsh University on Thursday. First pitch from North Canton is set for 2:00 p.m.
