CANTON – On Saturday afternoon, the Malone University women's basketball team returned home to Osborne Hall to face off against Cedarville University for another Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup.

With the win, the Pioneers complete the season sweep over Cedarville, as they defeated them two weeks ago in Cedarville 78-72.

THE GAME
Cedarville scored first on their opening possession.

Erin Kaufman was able to respond with a layup.

The teams traded baskets for the beginning portion of the quarter, but Cedarville managed to build up a 19-12 lead halfway through.

A pair of shots from the paint and a pair of free throws got the Pioneers within one before the Yellow Jackets had their own shot in the paint.

Brinn Hunt had the final score of the first quarter with a three ball to tie the game after the first ten minutes.

Hunt's three-pointer was the beginning of 14 unanswered Malone points. The highlight of the run was back-to-back threes from Hunt and Kyli Horn a few minutes into the second quarter.

Malone continued their multi-possession lead through the rest of the first half.

The Pioneers led by seven as the teams headed to the locker room. By the break, eight different Pioneer players had scored, and everyone had grabbed at least one rebound, Alexis Hutchison had five of them.

Brooklyn Troyer opened the second half with two three-pointers, only with the Yellow Jackets sinking two free throws in between.

The Pioneers went on another 10-0 run, this time highlighted with another three from Hunt and a three-pointer from Emma Kallas to push the lead to 18.

The fourth quarter opened with back-to-back shots from Hutchison in the paint.

Brinn Hunt hit from distance with 5:05 left to play to give Malone their largest lead of the day at 81-62.

A couple of shots from the charity stripe for Cedarville allowed them to close in on the Pioneers, but it was not enough as the buzzer rang and Malone had the 84-68 advantage.
