CANTON, Ohio. — The Malone University women's basketball team (5-4, 2-1 G-MAC) defeated Hillsdale College (4-6, 1-2 G-MAC) 58-49 on Saturday afternoon, December 16 in Osborne Hall.
The Pioneers bounced back from last week's conference loss at Thomas More by beating the Chargers at home, but it did not come easy. Both teams struggled with turnovers as the Pioneers gave the ball up 16 times and the Chargers had 18 total turnovers. The hosts also lost
Brinn Hunt minutes into the second half as the sophomore from Perrysburg, Ohio went down with an ankle injury and missed the remainder of the contest. Malone shot 40.7% (22-54) from the field while Hillsdale was just 34.5% (19-55) from field goal range.
Inside the Box Score
Erin Kaufman led the Pioneers offensively as she picked up a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. She also had three assists.
Hunt and
Brooklyn Troyer added 11 points and four rebounds.
Aila Miller scored nine points and grabbed three boards.
Nataley Armstrong scored three points and added three rebounds and an assist in her return from injury.
What's Next
The Pioneers are back in action on Monday, December 18 as they host Bryant & Stratton College at Osborne Hall. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
