CANTON, Ohio. — The Malone University volleyball team (3-15, 1-8 G-MAC) was defeated in four sets by Findlay University (13-4, 7-3 G-MAC) on Saturday afternoon, October 7 in Osborne Hall.
The Pioneers came out strong in the first set and built a healthy lead over their opponents. Despite an attempted Findlay comeback, Malone held on and defeated the frustrated Oilers 25-23 in the first set when
Annika Nichols got the set-winning kill. However, it was all Findlay over the next three sets as the visitors won 25-18 in the second set, 25-13 in the third set, and 25-12 in the fourth set to clinch the win. The loss is the sixth straight for the Pioneers and they will look to get back to winning ways as they participate in the Midwest Region Crossover on Friday, October 13.
Inside the Box Score
Gabby Rodriguez led the Pioneers with seven kills and 12 digs on the afternoon.
Macy McCauley led Malone defensively as she had 20 digs.
Mallory Meinen chipped in with 12 assists and four digs.
Jaymes Gilbert added five kills and five blocks on the day.
Gabi Smith had six kills.
What's Next
The Pioneers are back in action on Friday, October 13 as they travel to Hammond, Indiana to compete in the 2023 Midwest Region Crossover. Opponent and time are still to be announced.
