Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HAMMOND, Ind. — The Malone University volleyball team (3-17, 1-8 G-MAC) lost both its matches on Friday evening, October 13 as they fell to William Jewell College (8-12, 1-5) and Lake Superior State University (5-13, 3-6) as part of the 2023 Midwest Region Crossover.

In game one, Malone faced William Jewell College from the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Pioneers fought hard but the Cardinals swept all three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-15, and 25-18.

In the second set, the Pioneers hoped to find their way back into the win column. However, the Lakers of Lake Superior State University denied their opponents by sweeping the Pioneers with scores of 25-10, 25-15, and a close 25-23 win in set number three. The loss is the eighth straight for Malone.

Inside the Box Score (Match One)

Brianne Salinas led the Pioneers with eight kills.

Gabby Rodriguez added five kills and five digs.

Defensively, Macy McCauley picked up 14 digs.

Mallory Meinen had nine assists against William Jewell.

Grace Rosko added four kills.

Inside the Box Score (Match Two)

In the second game, Rodriguez tallied six kills and three digs.

Jaymes Gilbert had five kills, four total blocks, and two digs.

Meinen picked up 12 assists.

Gabby Pelfrey had six assists and five digs while McCauley led the team with 11 digs.

The Pioneers have a quick turnaround as they play McKendree University in their final match of the Midwest Region Crossover on Saturday morning, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
