PAINESVILLE, Ohio. — The Malone University volleyball team traveled up to Lake Erie College for a G-MAC road contest against the Storm. Lake Erie defended their home court sweeping Malone 3-0.

Highlights

Set One

Malone Jumped out to an early 10-7 lead over Lake Erie. However, the Storm fought back to take the first set 25-16

Set Two

Lake Erie controlled the second set from the start. The Pioneers found themselves only down by one at 9-8 after a service ace from Gabby Rodriguez.

Unfortunately,  Lake Erie was able to build the lead back up again, this time defending it for good. The Storm took set two by a score of 25-17

Set Three

This set was the most competitive of the night. Lake Erie jumped out to an early lead of 12-7. The Pioneer rally started when they cut the lead to 12-14. 

Lake Erie built the lead back up once again, but Malone didn't give up. The Pioneers rallied again with four straight points and after a kill from Laiken Wallick the lead was cut to just two.

The Storm went on to hold off Malone for a 25-21 win and earned the sweep.

Inside the Box Score

Grace Rosko led the team in kills with 10, while Gabby Rodriguez added five.

Mallory Meinen tallied 15 assists

Macy McCauley had 14 digs.

What's Next

Malone will be back in action at home on Friday, October 6 against Tiffin University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
