The Game
The Pioneers were on the attack from the start and were looking to pull of the upset. Minutes into the game
Nate Werthmuller sent a rocket towards the goal, but it was saved by the Yellow Jacket goal keeper.
In the intense soccer match, shots were hard to come by for both teams due to the formidable defenses on display. Cedarville found their opportunities constantly thwarted by Malone's stalwart defense, preventing the Yellow Jackets from building any momentum.
Finally, in the first half, the sole goal of the match came at the 37:42 mark, courtesy of Cedarville's Michael Payne. This early lead would be the only goal scored, yet the Malone defense remained steadfast, making the opposition work hard for every opportunity.
The Pioneer offense had it's opportunities as they secured 4 corner kicks compared to Cedarville's none, but couldn't come away with a goal. Pioneer Midfielder
Gavin Csiszar recorded 5 total shots for Malone, but none found the back of the net.
What's next
Malone will travel to Midland, MI and will look to grab a win in a G-MAC road contest against Northwood. The Game will start at 3:00 p.m.
