The Game
Northwood struck first, capitalizing on a penalty kick in the 42nd minute. Hannah Jatczak, slotted the ball into the back of the net, giving Northwood an early lead. Malone faced an uphill battle, but the Pioneers remained focused.
Malone's defense stood strong for the rest of the first half, preventing further goals. Just minutes ino the second half the Timberwolves added another goal to make the lead 2-0 but that's when the Pioneers were determined to make a comeback.
The true testament to Malone's character came in the 54th minute when
Brynn Mowrer found the back of the net, giving the Pioneers some major confidence. It was a beautiful goal, set up by
Gracie Ashton.
As the clock ticked down, the Pioneers pressed forward attempting to level the score. Northwood's defense, held their ground for the remainder of the game and escaped with a victory.
