CANTON -- After a week layoff, the Malone University women's soccer team was back in action on their home turf Thursday evening as they welcomed Roberts Wesleyan College to town.
The Pioneers were unable to respond from a late Redhawks goal, as RWC held on for a 2-1 victory.

THE MATCH
Roberts Wesleyan broke the scoreless tie with the game's first goal in the 37th minute.
That 1-0 Redhawk lead remained at halftime.
In the 82nd minute the Pioneers broke through when
Brynn Mowrer collected a ball from
Savannah Ebin, and put it past the RWC keeper for the equalizer. It was the first collegiate goal of Mowrer's young career, and it was Ebin's first assist of the season.
Unfortunately just five minutes later the Redhawks responded with another goal.
Malone was unable to answer back late, and RWC held on for the 2-1 win.
DETAILS
The Pioneers dominated the game in terms of possession, but the Redhawks did more with their opportunities.
RWC outshot MU 13-9. Six of the Redhawk shots were on frame compared to just four for Malone.
Kassidy Cannon played all 90 minutes in goal, and came away with four saves on the afternoon.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Pioneers shift their focus to Great Midwest Athletic Conference play next week.
Malone is set to host the University of Findlay in the conference opener on Thursday, September 8. Kick-off from King Field is slated for 4:30 p.m.
