CANTON -- The Malone University women's soccer team opened up the 2022 season on the newly named King Field Thursday afternoon.
The Pioneers scored a pair of goals in each half, and held D'Youville University scoreless the entire way to pick up the 4-0 win over the Saints

THE MATCH
It took just twelve minutes before Malone put the game's first score on the board.
Teegan Graff intercepted a D'Youville pass, and beat the Saints' keeper from nearly 40 yards out for the goal.
In the 30th minute freshman
Camryn Emerling netted the first goal of her collegiate career when she converted on a free kick opportunity from just outside the box.Â
The Pioneers put the game out of reach late in the second half when
Morgan Ross and Graff each scored less than ten minutes apart to help put the finishing touches on the 4-0 win.Â
DETAILS
The Saints earned four corner kick opportunities compared to just two for Malone. However, the Pioneers' defense kept things relatively clean for freshman keeper
Kassidy Cannon.
Cannon faced five total shots, but only one was on frame. She recorded that save in the 69th minute, and went on to post the first clean sheet of her collegiate career.Â
WHAT'S NEXT
Malone will play an exhibition match on Saturday against NCAA Division III the University of Mount Union.
The Pioneers next regular season game will be at home on Thursday, September 1 against Roberts Wesleyan College. Kick-off from King Field is slated for 4:30 p.m.
