KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Golf East Regional wrapped up at Shoal Creek Golf Course on Wednesday.
Malone University graduate student
Christina Williams posted a final round of 73 (+2), and finished the tournament tied for sixth overall on the leaderboard.
As the top remaining individual not on one of the five qualifying teams, Williams advances to play in next week's NCAA Division II National Championship.
She is just one of two individuals advancing out of the East Regional, and becomes the first Malone University women's golfer to earn a berth to the national championship tournament.
Williams began her round on hole ten. She birdied the twelfth hole, and went on to shoot a 36 (+1) on the opening nine.
After dropping another shot on hole two, Williams played the final seven holes at even par to get into the clubhouse with a score of 73 (+2).
Her 54-hole tournament score of 221 (+8) was the best score of any individual in the field.
The 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championships will be held May 10-14 at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Georgia. Williams will be competing in the stroke play portion of the event as an individual. Stroke play runs from May 10-12.
