05/10/22

GAINESVILLE, Ga. --The 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship got underway on Tuesday afternoon at Chattahooche Golf Club.

Malone University graduate student Christina Williams fired an opening round 74 (+2), and currently sits tied for sixteenth-place on the overall leaderboard.

Williams was in one of the final groups to tee off for the day. A slow start to the round had her at +4 after the opening nine holes.

Things settled in on the back nine. She played the first six holes at even par. Back-to-back birdies on sixteen and seventeen followed by a par on eighteen got her into the clubhouse at +2 (74).

Williams is scheduled to go off in the first grouping tomorrow morning beginning on hole number ten for round two. Her tee time is set for 9:30 a.m.
