Softball Splits at Trevecca Nazarene in the Opening G-MAC Series of the Year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Malone University softball team traveled to Music City, USA on Friday afternoon to open up Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play with a doubleheader against the Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans.

The Trojans (17-8, 3-1 G-MAC) opened up the series with a 4-2 win in game one, but the Pioneers (5-8, 1-1 G-MAC) rallied back in the nightcap for a 2-1 victory.

Game 1 Highlights
Trevecca scored the opening four runs of the game.

The Trojans got a solo homerun in the bottom of the second. They then made it a 4-0 lead after scoring three runs on three hits and a MU error in the bottom of the third.

The Pioneers kept TNU off the scoreboard the rest of the way, and Malone's offense rallied back late in the game.

Mackenzie Frantz doubled home Lauren Bennett in the top of the sixth to make it 4-1.

MU also scored a run on a Trevecca error in the seventh, but could not complete the comeback as the Trojans held on for the 4-2 game one win.

Game 2 Highlights
The Trojans also scored first in the second game, this time on a RBI single in the second.

Jensen Miller limited TNU to just two more hits the rest of the way.

A sacrifice fly by April Howser allowed Malone to tie the game in the third.

Then, in the top of the sixth inning, Frantz singled home Bennett to give Malone a 2-1 lead.

Miller worked around a one-out single by Trevecca in the sixth, and then retired the Trojans in order in the seventh to finish off the 2-1 win.
