CANTON – The Malone University women's basketball team was back in action at Osborne Hall on Thursday night for their first conference game against Tiffin University.
The Pioneers came out strong in the first quarter and held the lead the entire game, earning them a 80-57 victory.

THE GAME
The Pioneers came out of the gates strong, going on a 8-2 run that was capped off by a free throw by Emma Kallas.
Alexis Hutchison sank a shot beyond the arc with 3:12 left in the first quarter to give Malone a 15-4 lead. Their first double-digit lead of the night.
A three-point shot by Dejarnette Catara near the end of the first quarter cut the Pioneers lead down to seven.
A pair of three-point shots by Brooklyn Troyer capped off a 12-3 run by Malone. That compelling team effort extended their lead to 40-21.
At the 0:03 mark, Brinn Hunt hit a three-point basket to put the Pioneers up 43-26 heading into the locker room.
Malone never let off the gas and held a large lead the rest of the game.
After a three-point bucket by Hutchison with 07:01 left in the fourth quarter, the Pioneers held a 25 point advantage, their largest lead of the night.
THE DETAILS
Alexis Hutchison was the game's leading scorer for the third consecutive time with 23 points. She also had a team-high seven assists.
Brinn Hunt added a season-high 14 points and three assists.
Erin Kaufman poured in 11 points on 5-6 shooting from the field. She also led the team with six rebounds.
Kyli Horn (11), Emma Kallas (11), Brooklyn Troyer (10) closed out the double-digit scoring.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Pioneers will continue their home stand in Osborne Hall on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off against the Oilers of the University of Findlay is set for 1 pm.
