ASHLAND, Ohio -- Thursday night, the Malone University women's soccer team traveled to Ashland University for a rematch with the Eagles. 

AU entered play ranked as the No. 21 team in the most recent United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Top-25 poll. 

The Eagles proved to be too much for the Pioneers. Ashland scored three times in each half en route to a 6-1 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) win.

THE MATCH
The Pioneer defense held Ashland's offense in check for the most part in the earlier meeting this season. Unfortunately Thursday the Eagles scored a pair of goals inside the first ten minutes of play to grab an early lead. 

AU added another score in the 16th minute, and carried a 3-0 advantage to the halftime break. 

Coming out of the half the Eagles added goals in both the 53rd and 61st minutes. 

McKenzie Mobley and Brynn Mowrer connected for the Pioneers in the 66th minute for what proved to be Malone's lone goal of the game. 

Ashland responded with a goal less than one minute later, and held on to their 6-1 advantage for the rest of the game. 

DETAILS
Mobley's goal was her second of the season. She has now scored in back-to-back games for Malone. 

Mowrer's assist was the first of her collegiate career. 

WHAT'S NEXT
Malone returns home to host Trevecca Nazarene University on Saturday as part of the Homecoming Weekend festivities. 

The Pioneers will also celebrate Senior Day prior to the 1:00 p.m. kick-off.
