Trevecca Tops Malone 3-0 on Thursday Night

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Malone University women's soccer team was in the Music City on Thursday night for a primetime Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup with the Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans.

The Pioneers (0-4-1, 0-2) fell behind early, and could never recover as Trevecca (4-2-1, 3-0) pulled away with a convincing 3-0 victory.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
TNU opened up the scoring with a goal in the 17th minute. The Trojans added a second tally in the 34th minute.

Malone's lone look at goal in the first half came off the foot of Morgan Ross in the 7th minute, but it was saved by the Trojans' keeper.

Trevecca ratcheted up their intensity in the second half, and immediately got results with a goal in the 52nd minute to move ahead 3-0.

The Trojans continued to fire off shot after shot, but eight second-half saves from Jessica Morgan kept it a 3-0 game.

Unfortunately the Pioneers did not put together anything offensively, and TNU picked up the 3-0 win.

PIONEER POINTS
  • Morgan made 10 total saves in the match, including the eight in the second-half. That is the second time she has made double-digit saves this season. She also turned away 10 opportunities in the Pioneers' 1-1 draw at Roberts Wesleyan on September 9.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Malone was originally scheduled to travel to Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday, but that match has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols at KWC.

The next contest on the schedule for the Pioneers is a September 30 home matchup against Lake Erie College. Kick off from Pioneer Park is set for 6:30 p.m.
