Women's Soccer Stumbles on the Road Thursday at Ursuline

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio -- The Malone University women's soccer program made the short trip north to Ursuline College on Thursday afternoon for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference match.

Unfortunately the Pioneers (5-3-1, 4-3-1 G-MAC) suffered their first loss in nearly three weeks, falling to the Arrows (2-4, 2-4 G-MAC) by a final score of 3-0.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Ursuline scored first in the 11th minute. They got another goal in the 21st minute to help give them a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

The Pioneers had a couple of good looks at goal in the first half, but could not capitalize on their chances. Shots on goal by both Keeley Malley and Alexa Langenfeld were saved.

Unfortunately the second-half was a similar story. Malone had opportunities to get back into the game, but each time the Arrows' defense kept the Pioneers out of the back of the net.

Ursuline scored again in the 77th minute to effectively put the game away.

PIONEER POINTS
  • Despite suffering their first loss since March 20, the Pioneers still find themselves in second-place in the G-MAC standings with 13 points. The potential conference tournament seeding scenarios will come into clearer picture next week. Although Malone has the weekend off, there will be six G-MAC teams playing on Saturday.

  • 7 of the team's 13 shots were on goal as the Pioneers continue to be efficient with their chances at goal. On the season 63 of the club's 122 shots have been on target.

WHAT'S NEXT?
After playing two matches in the span of three days, the Pioneers have a bit of a break before their next game. Malone will travel to Cedarville University on April 15. Kick off is set for 4:30 p.m.
