TIFFIN, Ohio -- For the first time since the opening week of the season, the Malone University women's soccer team headed out on the road. The Pioneers traveled to Tiffin University for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference match.

Malone (5-2-1, 4-2-1) got a goal very early in the match, and held off Tiffin (2-3-1, 2-3-1) the rest of the way to earn the 1-0 victory. 

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
In the 7th minute of play Malone got on the scoreboard. Madeline Ault sent a ball into the box that deflected off of a Dragon defender and into the back of the net for a goal. Ault was credited with her G-MAC leading fifth goal of the season. 

The own goal by Tiffin proved to be the only scoring on the afternoon. 

The Dragons had plenty of chances to equal Malone's score, but the Pioneers' defense put together one of their best performances of the season. 

Despite Tiffin having an 18-8 advantage on shots Malone did not give them anything. 

Jessica Morgan made six total saves, including four down the stretch in the second half to post her first shutout of the season. 

PIONEER POINTS

• Today's win gives Malone 13 points in the G-MAC standings, and for the time being the Pioneers are all alone atop the conference standings.

• This afternoon was the second shutout on the season for Malone. The Pioneers also blanked Hiram College in the season-opener.

The Pioneers are on the road for the remainder of the regular season. Next up is a trip to Ursuline College. Thursday's match is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
