Malone Travels to Cedarville for Final Regular Season Road Contest of 2020-21

CANTON, Ohio – Fresh off their third consecutive victory, the Malone men's basketball team is in action once again, this time at Cedarville University on Saturday, February 20 at 4 pm. It is the last road game of the regular season for the Pioneers. Both teams are fighting for the number for seed in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) standings. Whoever obtains the four seed would host a quarterfinal game in the postseason.

HARDWOOD SERIES HISTORY:
Malone holds a 57-46 record all-time against the Cedarville Yellow Jackets. Malone won the first game of the season between the two teams 99-85 at Osborne Hall. In the last four games, the two teams have split wins and losses evenly.

The Malone Pioneers are 10-2 in their last 12 after dropping their first four regular season games of the year. On their three game winning streak, Malone has averaged 92.0 points per game and scored 99 in the first meeting with Cedarville.
 
The Pioneers shot 56% (15-for-27) from the field in the second half and knocked down 15 shots from three-point land in the win versus Cedarville on February 4. Jaret Majestic sank five, Bo Myers four, and Justin Miller hit three shots from beyond the arc.
 
Marcus Ernst is wrapping up a week where on Tuesday, he broke into the top 10 list in career rebounders at Malone University for men's basketball and on Thursday became the 54th men's basketball player to reach 1,000 career points in a Pioneer uniform. He is also averaging 22.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in the two victories while shooting a combined 17-for-23 (74%) from the field.
 
Bryce Butler (18.0), Bo Myers (17.4), Marcus Ernst (16.4), Jaret Majestic (10.5) and Justin Miller (10.2) are all averaging double-digit figures scoring for the highest scoring offense in the G-MAC at 82.6 points per game.
 
Off the bench, Simon Blair was a heavy contributor in Thursday's 86-81 win over Tiffin. Blair tied his career-high with seven points and played precious minutes in the second half of a close game with starting point guard Butler in foul trouble.
 
CEDARVILLE YELLOW JACKETS TEAM NOTES:

It is senior day for the Yellow Jackets on Saturday as they look to continue their four game winning streak. Cedarville played a back-to-back on Wednesday and Thursday against Walsh and defeated the Cavaliers 74-70 in game one and 74-54 in game two.
 
As a team, Cedarville has the third highest scoring offense at 79.4 points per game, the second lowest field goal percentage defense at 42.1% and are the conference's top team in rebounds (39.1 RPG) and blocked shots (3.7 BPG).
 
Brandon Maughmer is a do-it-all guard for the Yellow Jackets that is in the top 12 of every category in the conference. Maughmer averages a team-high 16.8 points, pulls down 6.3 rebounds, dishes out 5.1 assists, blocks 0.8 shots and records 2.1 steals per game.
 
Kollin Van Horn torched the Pioneers for a season-high 26 points in their first meeting and was 12-for-15 from the floor. Van Horn has a team-high 16 blocks on the season.
 
Conner TenHove and Quinton Green have started all 14 games they have played in this season and are pivotal pieces to the Cedarville puzzle. The Yellow Jackets started Jacob Drees at the 3-spot against Malone a few weeks back, but Isaiah Speelman has been in the starting five for the last four games.
