TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Malone University women's soccer team was on the road once again Saturday. This time the Pioneers traveled to Tiffin University for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match.
The Dragons (2-7-1, 2-5-1 G-MAC) led 1-0 at halftime, but the Pioneers (0-7-2, 0-5-1 G-MAC) equalized midway through the second half.
Unfortunately Tiffin netted the game winner late to pick up the 2-1 win.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Malone's offensive attack was clicking early on as the Pioneers got off three shots on goal within the first six minutes of play.
Unfortunately none of those found the back of the net, and it was Tiffin who opened up the scoring.
The Dragons broke through in the 25th minute to take a 1-0 lead. That score held until halftime.
The Pioneers came out of the break and turned up the intensity, especially on offense.
Malone dominated the possession early on in the second half, and was finally rewarded with a goal in the 64th minute.
Freshman
Reagan McCourt broke through the defense for the score. The equalizer was the first goal of her collegiate career.
Unfortunately it did not take the home team long to respond.
Tiffin scored, what would prove to be the game winner, in the 74th minute.
The Pioneers had a pair of looks at goal late, but the Dragons turned both opportunities away to hang on for the 2-1 win.
PIONEER POINTS
- Malone outshot Tiffin 15-14. 9 of MU's opportunities were on goal.
- The Pioneers dominated possession throughout which led to a 9-4 advantage on corner kick opportunities.
