Pioneers Blanked on the Road by Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Malone University women's soccer team traveled to Cedarville University on Thursday night for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match with the Yellow Jackets.

Cedarville (7-4-1, 7-2-0) used a pair of second-half goals to move past the Pioneers (0-8-2, 0-6-1) by a final score of 2-0.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
After several minutes of both teams settling into play early on, it was Malone who had the first good look at a goal.

Teegan Graff rocketed a shot towards the Cedarville goal, unfortunately the Yellow Jacket keeper was there for the save.

Cedarville had a pair of shots on goal themselves in the first 45 minutes, but Jessica Morgan collected saves on both opportunities to keep the match scoreless at halftime.

The Yellow Jacket offense dominated possession in the second half, and finally broke through for the first score of the game in the 58th minute.

Just over two minutes later CU scored again to go ahead 2-0.

Malone's offense struggled to put many quality attacks together in the second half, as Cedarville's defense held strong to secure the 2-0 win.

PIONEER POINTS
  • The Pioneers were outshot by Cedarville 16-7, and the Yellow Jackets had 8 corner kicks to just 1 for Malone.
  • Jessica Morgan made five saves in goal to push her season total out to 71.
