CANTON, Ohio -- The Malone University women's soccer team was back on their home turf Saturday afternoon for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup with the Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans.
The Pioneers (0-8-3, 0-6-2) dominated possession of the ball for most of the contest, especially in the second-half, but the Trojans' (7-3-3, 6-1-2) defense held strong as the teams played to a 0-0 double overtime draw.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Both teams started off slow offensively in the first half, as the defenses dominated the opening 45 minutes.
Trevecca got off four shots compared to three from Malone, but the teams went to the halftime break scoreless.
Second half adjustments were evident on the part of the Pioneer offense in the next 45 minutes as Malone was able to put together several strong runs which resulted in four shots on goal.
Unfortunately the TNU keeper stood tall to keep the game scoreless and force overtime.
Neither team was able to find of the back of the net in either period of extra time, resulting in the third draw of the season for the Pioneers.
PIONEER POINTS
- Jessica Morgan recorded her first shutout of the season. She made six more saves to push her season total out to 77.
- Madeleine Ault and Cayde Koballa each had four shots for Malone's offense, meanwhile four different players had at least one shot on goal.
