Malone Battles to 0-0 Draw at Walsh

NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- The Malone University women's soccer team made the short drive down Market Avenue on Tuesday evening for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match at Walsh University.

The Cavaliers (4-7-3, 4-4-2) and Pioneers (0-8-4, 0-6-3) played the full 90 minutes plus the 20 minutes of extra time without scoring a goal, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

The draw gives Malone their third point of the season in the G-MAC standings.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Malone's defense forced Walsh into several offline shot attempts, especially in the first half. All five of the Cavaliers' shots were well off target in the first 45 minutes.

Reagan McCourt had the first good look at goal for either side, but her shot in the 44th minute was saved by the Walsh keeper to hold the game at 0-0.

The Cavalier offense made some adjustments in the second half, but the Pioneers' defense, anchored by Jessica Morgan in goal was up to the task.

Walsh got off three shots on goal in the second period, but all three were saved by Morgan.

Malone had three shots on goal of their own, but all of those were saved as well and the match went into extra time.

Neither side had much left for the overtime periods, only managing one shot each in each period.

After the full 110 minutes of soccer the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

PIONEER POINTS
  • Jessica Morgan recorded another clean sheet, her second in a row this season. Malone's defense has now held opponents scoreless for the last 250+ minutes that they have played this season.
