FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Malone University University women's soccer team went on the road Thursday night for a matchup with the University of Findlay Oilers.
The Pioneers (0-6-2, 0-4-1) got on the scoreboard first, but were unable to hold off the Oilers (7-1-1, 6-0-1), as Findlay ultimately came away with a 3-1 win.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Malone made good on their first goal scoring opportunity of the match to grab the early 1-0 lead.
In the fourth minute of the game
Madeleine Ault found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season to put the Pioneers ahead 1-0.
Malone's defense turned away the first handful of Findlay's looks at goal, but the Oilers broke through for a pair of goals just over one minute apart.
Findlay scored in both the 24th and 25th minutes to claim a 2-1 lead.
The Oilers made it 3-1 in the 32nd minute, and never looked back.
The Pioneers got off three shots on goal in the second half, but each time Findlay made the save.
In the end the Oilers held on for the 3-1 win.
PIONEER POINTS
- Ault's goal was her team-leading fourth of the season. That ties her for fifth in the G-MAC. She has now scored in back-to-back contests.
