CANTON, Ohio -- The Malone University men's soccer team took on the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) action at Pioneer Park on Saturday night.
The match was scoreless at halftime, but two second half goals from the Panthers (2-12, 2-11 G-MAC) helped KWC to come away with a 2-0 win over the Pioneers (1-16, 1-12).
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The Pioneers seemingly dominated possession in the first half, and outshot the Panthers by a 5-2 mark. Unfortunately they could not finish on those opportunities.
KWC had one strong look at a goal early on in the match, but a great defensive save by the Pioneers kept the game scoreless.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead when they opened up the scoring with a goal in the 48th minute.
Kentucky Wesleyan added some insurance with another goal in the 66th minute.
The Pioneers had three shots on goal down the stretch, but could not find the back of the net.
KWC was able to escape Pioneer Park with the 2-0 win.
PIONEER POINTS
- Malone outshot Kentucky Wesleyan 14-8, but the Panthers got seven of their shots on target.
- Gavyn Ernst made his second start of the season. The freshman came away with a career-high four saves.

Malone closes out the 2021 season on Tuesday night when they host the University of Findlay. Kick off from Pioneer Park is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
