Panthers Win Despite Comeback Attempt from Pioneers

CANTON, Ohio -- Thursday evening, the Malone University men's soccer team faced off against Ohio Dominican at home for another conference matchup.  

The Panthers (9-3-3), put the pressure on with an early goal, but the Pioneers (1-15-0) defense shut out the Panthers for the rest of the half making it 1-0 at the break.

The Pioneers came out of the half with passion and desire to make a comeback and quickly netted a goal. 

The Pioneers stayed on the offensive to try and conclude another comeback win for the season, but the Panthers iced the game with two late goals. 

The Panthers ended up winning 3-1 versus the Malone Pioneer men. 

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Ohio Dominican came out of the gate strong, scoring in the first 17 minutes. 

The Pioneer defense regrouped, and held out the Panther offense for the rest of the half. 

During the second half, the Pioneers stepped up their offense and Gavin Csiszar rifled off a shot that found the back of the net, his 5th of his outstanding freshman year. 

The Pioneers tried to keep the pressure on but the Panthers were able to hold off this pressure and find the back of the net in the 74th minute making it a 2-1 game. 

The Pioneers regrouped and tried to reapply the pressure, but the Panthers were able to ice the game with a goal in the 86th minute to make it a 3-1 game in favor of Ohio Dominican. 

Ohio Dominican takes the game with a 3-1 win over our Pioneers.

  • Malone was out-shot by Ohio Dominican 13-4. 
  • Malone came away with 4 saves while Ohio Dominican had 2.    
  • Gavin Csiszar keeps adding to his freshman portfolio with yet another solo goal.

Malone hosts Kentucky Wesleyan this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. for another G-MAC matchup.
