Day One Recap
The Malone University track & field teams continued competition on Friday at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship Meet in Hillsdale, Michigan.
Finals were held in the steeplechase, multi-events and a number of field events while preliminaries were completed for multiple running events.
Men's Highlights - Finals
James Jackson earned a runner-up finish in the men's decathlon with a total of 5931 points – the sixth-highest point total in Great Midwest Athletic Conference history. With the first five events completed on Thursday, the final five events followed on Friday. Among decathlon participants, Jackson was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.68 seconds, seventh in the discus as 87' 7", sixth in the pole vault at 10' 8", first in the javelin at 155' 3" and third in the 1500 meters at 5:03.19.
Charles Hall took third in the long jump with a leap of 23' 00".
Travis Morgan was also third in the hammer throw. His toss of 188' 6" was less than a foot shy of his personal record of 189' 1".Â
Joe Ginter,
Arrington Dulin and
Owen Zeiter all reached new personal bests in the event. Ginter placed 11th with a mark of 160' 2" while Dulin was 13th at 153' 11" and Zeiter was 15th at 151' 10". Ginter remains sixth on Malone's all-time list in the event while Dulin remains ninth.
In the high jump, Jackson was seventh at 6' 1.50" and
Joshua Woika was 14th at 5' 9.75".
In the 3000-meter steeplechase,
Aaron Schaller was tenth at 9:59.20, Matthew Parker was 14th at 10:14.65 and
Tony Cappillo was 18th in 10:29.44.
Levi Heltebran took 13th in the javelin throw at 131' 9".

Women's Highlights - Finals
Logan Ferrucci secured a fifth-place finish in the women's heptathlon among ten competitors with 3882 points – which ranks as the eighth-most in Malone history and the ninth-most in G-MAC history. The final three events took place on Friday after the first four were completed on Thursday. Among heptathlon entrants, Ferrucci was fifth in the long jump at 15' 9.75", sixth in the javelin at 81' 8" and second in the 800 meters at 2:34.54.
In the long jump,
Madison Roberts was ninth at 16' 4.50" and Ferrucci was tenth at 16' 4.25".
Ferrucci also took 14th in the finals of the javelin at 78' 6".
Emily Martin placed 16th in the hammer throw with a mark of 111' 5".

Men's Highlights – Prelims
The Pioneers' 4 x 100-meter relay team of
Tellis Horne,
Desmond Sallee,
Jimmy Russell and
Tate Rhoads registered the fastest prelims time, advancing to Saturday's finals with a mark of 41.97 seconds.
Horne and Rhoads will also compete in the finals of both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. The duo clocked times of 10.69 and 10.82 seconds in the 100 prelims and 21.36 and 21.99 seconds in the 200.
Grant Glover recorded the fourth-best prelim mark in the 400-meter hurdles and will take part in the finals at 55.35 seconds.
Lucas Clark (4:06.79),
Christopher Cannon (4:07.48) and
Nick Chaplik (4:08.83) all qualified for the finals of the 1500 meters.
Matthew Kuyken (1:54.28), Cannon (1:56.06) and Clark (1:56.25) also reached the finals in the 800 meters.
Joshua Easley placed ninth in the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles at 15.52 seconds.

Women's Highlights – Prelims
Malone's 4 x 100-meter relay team of
Ashley Krieger,
Madison Roberts,
Azure Curtis and
Londie Williams-Fields moved on to Saturday's finals at 48.85 seconds, the fourth-fastest prelim time.
Williams-Fields also qualified for the finals in the 100 meters at 12.36 seconds and the 200 meters at 25.31 seconds.
Paige Svendsen advanced to the finals of the 100-meter hurdles in 15.64 seconds and the finals of the 400-meter hurdles at 1:03.98. Svendsen's 400 hurdles time was a new personal record, moving her to fourth on Malone's all-time list in the event.
Rebekah Carr and Krieger secured spots in the finals of the 400 meters after posting prelim marks of 58.47 seconds and 59.37 seconds.
Katie Grimes and
Maria Blasiole will take part in the 800-meter finals with their Friday times of 2:16.90 and 2:18.04.
Mackenna Curtis-Collins and
Jenna Beakas will both move on to Saturday's finals in the 1500 meters after registering times of 4:58.55 and 5:08.00, respectively.
