The Malone University track & field team opened competition at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday in Hillsdale, Michigan.
In the men's 10,000 meters,
George McCartney took second in 30:48.09.Â
Zach Fresenko was fourth at 31:25.29,
Brett Cortelletti placed 11th at 32:16.28 and
Lucas Huber was 12th at 32:33.77.
In the women's 10,000 meters,
Maria Martin was sixth at 38:16.86.
Jocelyn Miller was tenth in 19:32.04 and
Clare Willett placed 17th in 42:41.76,
The first five events were completed in the men's decathlon with the remainder of the events to follow on Friday. Among decathlon competitors,
James Jackson had the eighth-fastest 100 meters time (11.77), the fifth-best long jump in 20' 5.25", the fifth-best shot put at 34' 8.5", the second-best high jump (6' 2.75") and the third-best 400 meters mark in 52.92 seconds.
The first four events were also contested in the women's heptathlon with the remainder of events remaining on Friday.Â
Logan Ferrucci posted the fifth-best 100-meter hurdles mark at 16.22, the ninth-best high jump at 4' 6", the ninth-best shot put at 27' 6" and the fifth-fastest 200-meter dash (26.42).
