The Malone University women's basketball team endured a 75-47 loss to the University of Indianapolis in a neutral-site contest Saturday afternoon in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. The Pioneers struggled out of the gate and never really found their footing as they fell to 1-1 on the young season.

Malone fell behind 11-0 in the early going and 27-2 late in the first quarter. Sydney Wentling slowed the bleeding with a three-point basket, but the Pioneers trailed 30-5 by the end of the period. Malone trailed 45-14 at halftime and wouldn't score its 30th point until nine minutes remained in the game. In an otherwise nondescript contest, freshman Emma Kallas scored her first career points on a putback layup in the closing seconds.
 
Game Highlights
-UIndy shot 80% (12-for-15) in the first quarter and 48.3% (28-58) overall.
-Malone made just 2-of-11 (18.1%) first-quarter field goals and 14-of-55 (25.5%) shots overall.
-The Greyhounds outscored the Pioneers 36-8 in the paint and held a 40-32 edge in rebounds.
 
Pioneer Highlights
-Senior Ellen Doyle netted four three-pointers and finished with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds.
-Freshman Alexis Hutchison added eight points.
-Mikayla Poole chipped in seven points off of the bench
 
Greyhound Highlights
-Laura Thomas led the team with 22 points and three steals
-Emma Benoit (7-9 FG) scored 17 points and grabbed nine boards.
