Malone Defeated by #18 Southern Indiana in Midwest Region Clash

The Malone University men's basketball team dropped to 1-1 on the season with an 83-56 setback to the University of Southern Indiana, ranked 18th in the NCAA DII Coaches Poll, Saturday afternoon in a Midwest Region crossover contest at Hillsdale College.
 
Recap
Malone grabbed its largest lead of the game when a Daylan Haynie three-pointer put the Pioneers up 4-2 a minute into the game. The Screaming Eagles regained the lead two minutes later and never trailed again. USI pulled away with an 18-5 run and eventually led 42-26 at the half.
 
Southern Indiana opened the second half on 20-4 run to extend its lead to 30 points. The Pioneer high point of the second half was a 12-0 run which included three-pointers from Marcus Ernst, Jaret Majestic, and Eli Ramsey, but it was far too little far too late as USI rolled to victory.

-USI shot 66.7% (18-of-27) in the first half and 53.6% overall.
-Malone made only 35.0% (21-of-60) of its total field goal tries.
-USI outrebounded Malone 39-29 and outscored the Pioneer bench 32-14.

-Bo Myers added nine points and seven rebounds.

Screaming Eagle Highlights
-Joe Laravie and Emmanuel Little each scored 17 points
-Josh Price (10-10 FT) scored 16 points and secured a game-high 13 rebounds.
