The Malone University men's and women's soccer teams travel to Walsh University on Tuesday, November 5 for their regular season finale games. Both teams are on the cusp of post-season berth and the result of these games as well as others around the Great Midwest Athletic Conference will determine the fate of the Pioneers for the conference tournament.
Â
For women's soccer, the easiest scenario to guarantee a playoff spot is a win on Tuesday at Walsh, or a loss by Lake Erie, who plays at Ursuline. The Pioneers currently hold the eight seed, so they would need to be jumped by the Storm in order to miss the postseason. In the best case scenario, Malone can climb all the way to the six seed, pending the result of other G-MAC matches.
Â
On the men's side, it is three teams battling for the final two spots between Malone, Ohio Dominican and Alderson Broaddus. The Pioneers would clinch outright with a win at Walsh and a loss by Ohio Dominican, who plays at home against Cedarville. Malone is on the outside looking in heading into the final day of the regular season, so the Pioneers would need to jump either Ohio Dominican or Alderson Broaddus to make the postseason for the first time since 2012.
