Points in Transition Key in Malone's 116-82 Win Over Carlow

The Malone University men's basketball team exploded for 116 points in Wednesday afternoon's 116-82 win over Carlow University. The last time Malone scored that many points was all the way back in 2012, when the Pioneers scored 117 points against Salem University. Malone is now 3-4 on the season and Carlow falls to 0-9.

Game Recap:
Marcus Ernst hit a jump shot for the Pioneers 13 ticks into the game and the Pioneers did not look back from there. Scoring came in bunches for both teams before the first media timeout occurred. Jaret Majestic, Sehill Mouliom and Eli Ramsey each had buckets for the Pioneers, while Tre' Harvey lit it up from downtown and buried three shots from behind the arc in the first five minutes.

The Celtics cut the lead down to three at one point, but were unable to catch up and the Pioneers extended the gap with balanced scoring. All six players in the scoring column for Malone had multiple field goals in a high-octane first half.

A 10-0 run to close half number one for the Pioneers increased the lead to 60-43 as the buzzer sounded. Majestic fueled the push with a pair of threes, as well as a transition dunk from Ernst and a lay-up from Bo Myers on a fastbreak opportunity.

An and-one lay-up from Daylan Haynie got the point guard in rhythm. He converted the free throw, hit a jumper and sunk a sweeping left-handed lay-up to stretch the gap out to 25 early in the second stanza.

Kenneth McCullough-Lomax Jr. extended the floor well from the 4-position and buried five shots in the second half, including two three-point attempts.

Sehill Mouliom ran rim-to-rim throughout the game and the Celtic defenders were unable to keep up with his motor as time ran off. He had three dunks in transition to go with a career-high 23 points and grabbed nine total rebounds.

Levi Seiler had two field goals in the second half and Tracey Sumner splashed a three in the late stages of the game to secure the victory and send Pioneer fans into the Thanksgiving holiday with a 116-82 win.

Erwin Gutic scored his first career points on a jump shot inside the paint with just over three minutes left.
